With the rapid population growth of metropolitan Phoenix, the demand for additional electricity also has grown. To meet the need for more power that is so vital to the local economy, SRP expanded the Santan Generating Station in Gilbert, Arizona.

SRP completed construction on two new units in spring 2005 and placed the final new unit of the Santan Generating Station into commercial operation on March 1, 2006.

SRP worked closely with the community to increase the benefits and lessen the impact of the project on the surrounding area, and we are grateful to those who provided their insight and support.
